
Illegal behundi net worth of Tk 3 million seized in Lalmohan

A drive has been conducted in the Tentulia River to protect Jatka Hilsa in Lalmohan Upazila of Bhola.
On Saturday, 53 illegal behundi nets were seized in the drive conducted by the Upazila Fisheries Department from 2 pm to 8 pm.
The market value of these nets is at least 3 million taka. Later, the seized illegal nets were burnt in public and destroyed. Under the guidance of Hilsa Resource Development and Management Project PD Molla Emdaduliah and District Fisheries Officer Biswajit Kumar Deb, Lalmohan Upazila Marine Fisheries Officer Md. Saidur Rahman, Fisheries Office Field Assistant Md. Nesar Uddin, Saiful Islam Sohag, Data Collector Md. Anwar Hossain, Office Assistant Khokon and police members were present in the drive. In this regard,
Lalmohan Upazila Fisheries Officer Ali Ahmed Akhand said that a campaign is underway in the Meghna and Tentulia rivers of the upazila until June 30th to conserve Jatka Hilsa. As part of that campaign, a huge amount of these illegal nets have been seized during a campaign in the Tentulia river. We will continue this campaign strictly.
