Husband slaughtered wife, mother released after 6 hours of confinement in Chandnaish

Former Chhatra League and Upazila Jubo League leader Zamir Uddin Chowdhury (48), the 8th son of deceased Nashir Chowdhury of Syedabad Village, Hashimpur Union Ward No. 1, Hashimpur Union, Chandanish Upazila of Chittagong, slaughtered his wife Beauty Akhtar with his own hands at 6 pm on Monday.
He killed his wife and took his mother to his bedroom to slaughter her and kept her locked for 6 hours with a knife to her throat.
On receiving the information, the army, police and fire service personnel led by Officer-in-Charge (OC) Imran Al Hossain and Major Fazle Rabi of Chandanish police station, with the help of the local public, rescued his mother alive in a bloody state at 9:30 pm that day and took her to Chandanish Sadar Hospital. Later he was sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
The police arrested the killer Zamir Uddin Chowdhury. The killer is said to be the father of Zamirs two children. However, it is not known what caused such a horrible incident. However, the victim's family said that the murderer had been torturing his wife repeatedly by bringing money from her father's house for dowry. On the day of the incident, as she was unable to bring money from her father's house, she was beaten and killed with a weapon.
Bailtali, elder brother of the victim, Mizanur Rahman of Jafarabad village filed a murder case in Chandanish police station accusing the killer Zamir as the sole accused. Chandnaish Police Station (OC) Imran Al Hussain confirmed the incident.
