Husband drowns in front of his wife while bathing in Meghna

A couple drown while bathing in the Meghna river in Chandpur. The husband drowned in the strong current in front of his wife's eyes. Despite knowing how to swim, the locals consider it mysterious that he sank.
The incident took place on Thursday at 9:30 am in the city's big station Launchghat area. The house of missing Zahirul Islam (30) is in Barisal district.
He lived with his wife Monira Begum and two children in a rented house on the banks of Meghna, a large station in Chandpur city. Sometimes Zaheer used to drive an auto rickshaw and sometimes he sold nuts at the launch ghat.
Chandpur Naval Police Station OC Moniruzzaman said that the couple had bathed in the river together. Zaheer dived into the water and did not come up.
When Zaheer was not found, his wife called out and the people around came forward. After reporting to the police station, the police reached the spot and informed the fire service and coast guard. Fire service diving team is searching for Zaheer. But he has not been found yet.
