
Hundreds of birds burnt in Jhenaidah shop fire

Hundreds of birds of different species, both foreign and domestic, were burned to death in a fire which broke out at a shop in Beparipara Shapla Chattar in Jhenaidah district town on Wednesday night.
Fire Service sources said the fire, which originated from a mosquito coil, broke out at the pet shop selling birds owned by Kazi Iblu, around 10:30 pm and spread soon.
On information, a firefighting unit rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze after some time.
Birds including Lovebirds, Cockatiel, Bazrika, Diamond Dove and other species were burned to death.
The affected shop owner claimed that the extent of the damage caused by the fire could be Tk 8-10 lakh.
