A conference was held in Satkhira with members of the district, upazila and union human trafficking prevention committees for women and men rescued from human trafficking.

Under the Assured Project organized by the Government of Switzerland and implemented by Winrock International, The conference was held at the Hotel Tiger Plus Conference Room on Wednesday.

The event was chaired by Swapan Kumar Guha, Executive Director of Panthapura, and was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Sheikh Moinul Islam Moin as the chief guest. Deputy Director of the Department of Social Services, Satkhira, SM Rafiqul Islam, District Information Officer Jaharul Islam Tutul, and Executive Director of the Progress Organization, Abdus Sabur Biswas, were present as special guests.

The guests at the conference said that one should go abroad legally and with knowledge. One should not go abroad illegally because of over-enthusiasm. Where people are taken to other countries through temptation or deception. The government has taken various steps to prevent propaganda, and various organizations and youth are working. Still, many times incidents like human trafficking occur after falling into the clutches of brokers.

Subal Kumar Ghosh, Project Coordinator of Transformation, presented the keynote address of the conference.
