A protest human chain was held in front of the Noakhali Press Club demanding immediate legal action against Meghna Group Chairman Mostafa Kamal for filing false and harassing cases against Dr. Mahmudur Rahman, the Ekushey Padak-winning editor of Amar Desh, and other journalists.

The event, organized jointly by the Amar Desh Readers’ Forum, Noakhali Press Club, and Noakhali Journalists' Union, took place on Sunday  from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.The human chain drew the participation and solidarity of journalists from print and electronic media, lawyers, political figures, student representatives, and people from various professions working in Noakhali.The event was moderated by Amar Desh’s Noakhali correspondent Azad Bhuiyan. Notable speakers included  Mahbub Alamgir Alo, Convener of Noakhali District BNP, Adv  Abdur Rahim, former president of Noakhali Lawyers’ Association, Dr. Borhan Uddin, Noakhali correspondent for Dainik Sangram, Liaqat Ali Khan, Noakhali correspondent for Boishakhi TV, Adv  Rabiul Hasan Palash, Saifullah Kamrul, Staff Reporter of Somoy TV and others.

Several others including editors, local reporters, and civil society members also attended in support.Speakers described Dr. Mahmudur Rahman as a patriotic and persecuted editor, an advocate for nationalism and Islamic values, and a vocal opponent of imperialism. They alleged that Meghna Group Chairman Mostafa Kamal, a “stooge of fascism,” filed false cases to suppress dissenting voices and demanded his arrest along with his associates.They also highlighted past state repression under the Awami League regime, noting that Mahmudur Rahman was repeatedly imprisoned and tortured for publishing the truth. The speakers criticized the "subservient judiciary" of that period and called on the current revolutionary government to ensure justice, arrest of perpetrators, and compensation for damages inflicted on Amar Desh and its journalists.They condemned past violent attacks and murder attempts allegedly carried out by government-backed goons, calling for the arrest and trial of those responsible.
