HSC pass rate in Chattogram Board drops to 70.32 pc, lowest in five years

The pass rate for the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exams in the Chattogram Education Board has fallen to 70.32%, the lowest in the last five years. Since 2020, the pass rate has been steadily declining.

However, the number of students achieving GPA 5 this year is higher compared to the previous year, with a total of 10,269 students securing the top grade.

The results were announced today, October 15, at the board's auditorium. The event was presided over by the Chairman of the Chattogram Education Board, Professor Rezaul Karim, while the Controller of Examinations, Professor A. M. M. Mujibur Rahman, officially declared the results.

Out of 106,298 registered candidates from 282 colleges, 105,416 students appeared for the exam. Of them, 74,125 students passed, marking a 4.13% decrease in the pass rate compared to last year.

In terms of subject streams, the pass rate in the Science stream is 91.33%, in the Business Studies stream 73.52%, and in the Humanities stream 57.11%. The pass rate for male students stands at 67.72%, while for female students, it is 72.49%.

A total of 5,759 female students secured GPA 5, compared to 4,510 male students, once again showing that female students outperformed their male counterparts in both pass rate and GPA 5 achievement.
