History of Abul Kashem Chand, the legendary company commander of Liberation War

In 1971, the fighters of the great Liberation War rushed to liberate the country, like all over the country, before the independence of 1970-71, Chilmari police station also came to Chilmari police station before independence.

At that time, a group of freedom fighters of this area fought for the independence of the area and it is still alive as an exemplary document.

Engineer Abul Kashem Chand was born in 1951 AD in Sharif Hat area of Chilmari upazila in the northern region. His father Alhaj late Dashar Uddin Babari was an educated and influential man, Engineer Chand was very brave and wise among the brothers. After studying up to class 9 in Chilmari High School as a child, he passed SSC in first division in 1966 at Ulipur MS High School.

In 1968, he passed his HSC from Rajshahi Government College in the first division and graduated from the Engineering Department from the Professional University, Dhaka. The Great Liberation War started when Abul Kashem Chand was a 2nd year student of Engineering University. Mass Movement of 1969-70, Independence War of 1970-71. He was involved in student politics while still a student. As one of the collaborators in the student movement at Dhaka University of Engineering, he led the struggle by attending various marches and meetings of students in Dhaka.

On March 7, 1971, Abul Kashem Chand moved to Chilmari, the home area of Bangabandhu's speech. Keeping in touch with local politicians, Sadakat Hossain became one of the members of the Sangram Parishad Committee formed under the leadership of Sakku Miar (MNA). On March 30, 1971, he started the first liberation war by attacking and killing the EPRs of Chilmari police station. After that, through various trainings, he was appointed as the commander of Chand Company, Chilmari-Ulipur and director of Roumari Training Center of sector 11 of the Liberation WarIn 1971 he liberated Chilmari police station by leading the Chilmari raid.Z-Force Commander Major Zia has occupied a prestigious position in the history pages due to his special assistance to Major Taher, Sector Commander No. 11 during the Liberation War.

He is legendary as a brave freedom fighter of Chilmari and entire Bangladesh. Company Commander Mr. Abul Kashem Chand worked for a few days as an engineer in the road and township department of the Bangladesh government at the beginning of his career after independence.

Later he worked as an engineer in the Ministry of Agriculture and Water under the Government of Saudi Arabia for 10 years. Later, he built an industrial factory in Dhaka with his own funding and after running it for some time, he went outside the country for his own needs.

Company Commander Mr. Abul Kashem Chand has become known as an educationist and social worker in his area due to his various service activities at various times including donating one lakh rupees during the establishment of Chirmari Degree College in 1985. Mr. Abul Kashem Chand is also a writer and he writes a lot in his spare time. He has written a book called "Muktijudho Joddha Ami" about those tumultuous days and stories of bravery in the liberation war. By reading this book written by him, teachers and students of this time, researchers can learn a lot of information about the liberation war.

When asked to know, Chand Company Commander, brave freedom fighter Abul Kashem Chand said, 1971 was the year of development of Bangladesh. This year is an imperishable chapter written in golden letters for every person, every citizen of this country. '71 is a year of great pride and great pride. On the eve of development as a nation, it may have been recorded in the script of the people of this land that the war of liberation and freedom would start from the beginning of the year '71, which would culminate in the end of the same year.

The provisions of the rules have been followed to the letter. Bangladesh became independent in 1971. I actively participated in this freedom struggle and played only a minor role. I consider this privilege of participating in the War of Independence as the best memorable chapter of my life. Even in a thousand years such rare luck may not come. And people don't even live for a thousand years. I am also a partner in the history of my nation's independence -I thank the great Creator for that.
