Historic 7 March will provide source of inspiration to our young generation

Dr. Muhammad Mahtab Hossain Mazed

The importance and significance of Bangabandhu's March 7 speech is immense in the history of the freedom of the Bengali nation from subjugation and the struggle for independence of Bangladesh.

Bangabandhu was a wise politician. He understood the pulse of the people and the ruling class. Bangabandhu, who has been involved in politics since his student days, has participated in numerous speeches, lectures, meetings and seminars in his political life. As a result, his ability to communicate with people was unparalleled.

He could easily explain his words to the people. After speaking to the press on March 1, he and his party leaders were quite worried about the speech on the 7th. Bangabandhu Dr. Kamal called Hossain and said, "I will not give a written statement; I will do my best. You formulate the points." And Dr. Along with Kamal, Bangabandhu also met several times with policy makers of Awami League. A meeting was also held with student leaders.

They asked Bangabandhu to declare independence directly. Bangabandhu listened attentively to everyone. He started his speech with a traditional address by getting on the stage. He uttered a total of 1108 words in his 18-minute speech. An average of 48 to 50 words come out of his mouth per minute. Bangabandhu is the leader of the soil and people. Therefore, the language of soil and people can also be observed in his speech.

In his speech delivered in standard Bengali, he highlighted the history of exploitation and deprivation, contemporary killings, political upheavals and the desire of the people of Bengal for autonomy. Although Bangabandhu's speech was not written down, there was no repetition or repetition in the speech. Bangabandhu was quite elegant and patient in his choice of words. He addressed Yahya and Bhutto as 'Mr. Yehia Khan Saheb', 'Mr. Bhutto Saheb'.

Did not use words in the speech in such a way that it would appear that he was directly inciting armed struggle or agitation. Another aspect of the lyrical importance of the March 7 speech is that the speech follows a specific flow. History in the beginning, tyranny and injustice in the middle and a call for discussion along with vigilance and a directive speech to the people in the end.

The last words 'this time our struggle for liberation, this time our struggle for freedom' - the most important dialogue of the speech which the audience was eager to hear. Finally, Bangabandhu ended the speech with 'Joy Bangla', the slogan that later became the battle cry of the Bengali freedom struggle.

After the race course speech on March 7, The Newsweek magazine of New York called Bangabandhu the 'Poet of Politics' or the 'Poet of Politics' in its April 5 issueAnd in 1970, the Awami League won 167 seats in Pakistan's first National Assembly elections and gained majority in the 313-seat National Assembly.

But when the ruling group of West Pakistan refused to hand over the power of Pakistan to Awami League, the political situation of the country started to deteriorate. The political situation in East Pakistan took a dire shape when General Yahya suddenly adjourned the session of the National Assembly indefinitely on March 1.

The people of Bengal burst into rage and outrage. They kept waiting for Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib's strong voice to make a bright announcement.

After everyone's wait, the voice of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the architect of Bangladesh's independence, rose on March 7 in front of the sea of people at the then Race Course MaidanAnd at the end of 2017, the first message of Bangladesh's independence was included in UNESCO's 7th March speech. Recognized as 'World Documentary Heritage' by UNESCO.

★Importance of historical speech of March 7: Bengali nation reached a new peak in world history through this speech. Bangabandhu's fiery declaration on March 7 gave the Bengali nation the direction of freedom and guerilla warfare. After this, the freedom-loving people of the country started preparing for the final fight from house to house. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's thunderous slogans enlivened the Bengali nation with the joy of impending liberation.

Exploited and deprived for ages, the Bengalis marched forward with steely determination towards the desired emancipation. In Bangabandhu's March 7 speech, independent sovereign Bangladesh made its debut on the world map at the cost of millions of lives in a 9-month bloody war. Bangabandhu's 7 March

The importance of speech is highlighted below:-1. Call for democracy: Bangabandhu in his speech of 1095 and 1108 words presented a longing appeal and strong desire to establish democracy and build the country's governance system. He said, 'After the election, the people of Bangladesh completely voted for me and Awami League. Our National Assembly will sit, we will create a regime there and we will build this country'. The importance of this speech in the establishment of democracy is immense.

2. Presenting the History of Discrimination: Bangabandhu presented the long twenty-three-year history of discrimination during the first Pakistan period. Since the birth of the state of Pakistan through the partition of India in 1947, West Pakistan continued to exploit and rule the then East Pakistan, creating a mountain of inequality. All three military headquarters were in West Pakistan. In the army 95% were West Pakistanis, the disparity in finances was even greater. Banks, insurance, trade, public and private, foreign missions had their head offices in West Pakistan.

As a result money laundering becomes easy. Foreign exchange earned from jute in East Pakistan was spent in West Pakistan. But the farmer did not get fair price. Most of the industrial factories were located in West Pakistan. As a result, East Pakistan was dependent on West Pakistan. Behavior in the political sphere was insurance. Attempts were made to keep popular leaders politically inactive, including East Bengal public leader Abul Kashem Fazlul Haque. Even though the Awami League won an absolute majority in the 1970 elections, the transfer of power began to falter.

As a result, the people protested these discriminations and demanded autonomy and independence. And that's when the flames of the Pak group's weapons burned on the innocent people. 3. The colorful picture of torture: Bangabandhu's speech shows the picture of brutal torture that has been carried out on the Bengali nation for twenty-three years. The father of the nation said in the third line of his speech, "But sadly, the streets are stained with my brother's blood in Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Rangpur." He said "the history of 23 years is the history of the cries of men and women". Pak army shed blood in 1952 language movement. Western groups want to suppress the people of East Bengal through massacres.

4. The call of the fighting spirit: Bangabandhu has highlighted in his speech the struggle that the Bengali nation started and sacrificed for the demand of autonomy and independence. Deprived, oppressed, insulted people from various sides began to carry out agitations to accept their demands. Even in the face of death, one moves forward fearlessly and the streets are stained with blood. The people are conducting a systematic movement to liberate the country, but the Pakistan Army is firing on the innocent people. Yet the struggling people did not back down.

5. Bengali Nationalism: Bangabandhu brought out the spirit of Bengali nationalism in his speech. He spoke of Hindus, Muslims, Bengalis and non-Bengalis in the establishment of Bengali nationalism. Bangabandhu's speech on March 7, the way Bengali nationalism has been portrayed, has not been able to be done by any leader of the world till date. Tin was able to ignite a burning flame of unity among the entire Bengali nation that day through his hypnotic speech, which later served as a major tool in the War of Independence.

6. Bengali unity: The Bengali people formed a united movement under the leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib. Awami League won absolute majority in 1970 elections. Seeing the united people, Bangabandhu called for independence in his March 7 speech. The entire nation jumped into a united movement to liberate the country.

7. Loyalty to the leadership: People of all classes and professions express strong hope to continue the movement under the leadership of Sheikh Mujib, they respond to his call. At the call of Bangabandhu, Jagan came down to the streets. Build resistance against Pak army.

8. Economy, Politics and Cultural Emancipation: Bangabandhu in his 19-minute speech on that day expressed the intention of political, economic and cultural emancipation of the people in an emotional yet strong voice. He hoped to establish a state free from poverty, able to exercise voting rights and speak the mother tongue freely, saying, "The people of this country will have economic, political and cultural emancipation".

9. Administrative direction: The administrative importance of Bangabandhu's speech is also immense. He said, "In every village, in every neighborhood, build a struggle council under the leadership of Awami League and be ready with what you have."

10. Guerrilla War Instructions: The tactics he gave to resist the onslaught of heavily armed Pakistani forces and wrest victory were very impressive. He said, "Build a fort in every house, you have to fight the enemy with everything you have, you will close all the roads if I can't give orders, we will kill you with rice, we will kill you with water".

11. Declaration of Liberation Struggle: Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in his March 7 speech declared the liberation struggle by saying that 'this time's struggle is the struggle for liberation, this time's struggle is the struggle for freedom'. His bold declaration inspired the Bengali nation to jump into the liberation war. This was his last pre-war speech to the nation. So in this he spoke about the past with the direction of the war. Bengalis had no weapons then. So he urged everyone to build forts from house to house with whatever they have. He believed that his declaration of struggle would increase the oppression of the West. That is why he ordered to show complete non-cooperation with the then invading rulers. He highlighted the rationale of freedom struggle in his unique speech.

12. Four demands: Bangabandhu clearly presented four demands in his historic speech, which has greatly increased its importance in the history of the Bengali nation. Because these claims of his proved to be one of the tools to prevent him from being accused of being a separatist. His demands were (1) the withdrawal of martial law (2) the withdrawal of all military personnel to barracks (3) an inquiry into the manner in which the killings were carried out and (4) the transfer of power to the people's representatives.

Finally, I would like to say that the sweetness, excellence and richness of UNESCO recognizing this speech as an important written heritage of the world and the history of the struggle of the Bengali nation will now spread among the multi-lingual people in different parts of the world. It has now become an asset not only of Bangladesh but of the whole world. Accreditation by the World Organization will make research global, especially in the minds of the knowledge-seeking young society.

This speech will continue to be the force of self-consciousness-awakening of Bengalis for ages, as long as Bangladesh and Bengalis live in this world, the red-green flag will fly around the world. Inshallah This struggle is the struggle for our liberation, this struggle is the struggle for freedom. During Bangabandhu's life, he has produced several successful compositions. Among them 'unfinished autobiography' and 'prison diary' are important. In these two biographies, he has carefully written many important words. To know him, these two books must be read. Today is the seventh of March. Historic speech day. Humble respect to this great leader of Bangladesh on this day.
