Hill collapse at midnight : 4 members of a family died in Golapganj

Four members of the same family, including a child, were killed in a hill collapse in Golapganj, Sylhet due to continuous rainfall, the incident occurred around 2:00 AM on Saturday night in the Bakhtiarghat area.
The deceased have been identified as Riaz Uddin of Bakhtiarghat, his wife Rahima Begum, and their children Samia Khatun and Abbas Uddin.
Golaapganj UNO Faisal Mahmud Fuad confirmed the recovery of the bodies of the four victims.
During a visit to the site on Sunday, locals said Riaz’s house was situated at the base of a hill. Due to excessive rainfall late Saturday night, a landslide buried the house, trapping Riaz and his family members under the mud. Locals tried to rescue them upon hearing their screams, but failed. Later, administrative personnel arrived and recovered the bodies.
OC Moniruzzaman Molla of the local police station said, upon receiving the news, fire service, army, upazila administration, and police personnel rushed to the spot with local residents and jointly recovered the four bodies.
