After Corona and MPOX, the Health Department has issued an alert at the Darshana Joynagar International Immigration Checkpost in Chuadanga to prevent the infection of the new HMPV virus (Human Meto Pneumovirus).

Confirming the matter, Shamim Khan, Health Officer -In- Charge of Darshana International Immigration Checkpost, told The Country Today "We have received a letter from the Health Department to prevent HMPV infection."

He said, the HMPV virus has appeared in neighboring India. To get protection from it, the Health Department of Immigration is giving various awareness tips including wearing masks to passport passengers traveling between India and Bangladesh.

He also said that to maintain caution, health checks are being conducted on passport holders coming from India. They are being checked for cold, cough and fever. At the same time, it is being advised to wear masks and maintain a safe distance.

Damurhuda Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Helena Akhter Nipa said, we have received a directive from the health department to prevent HMPV infection. It has 7 instructions. Our medical team working at Darshana Checkpost is on alert.

It is worth noting that the HMPV virus was first identified in the Netherlands in 2001. This virus spreads through direct contact between two or more people. There is also a risk of spreading the virus from touching an infected area. The HMPV virus spread in China in the first week of January.

Recently, it is also spreading to neighboring India.
