Health assistants' sit-in program in Rajbari to implement 6-point demands

A sit-in program has been held at Rajbari headquarters to quickly implement the 6-point demands proposed by the Department of Health to amend the appointment rules for health colleagues working at the field level, to provide 14th grade by adding graduation/equivalent, and to improve to 11th grade through in-service diploma training, to provide technical rank, and to consistently promote to the next higher grade in the event of promotion.
The three-hour sit-in program was organized by the Bangladesh Health Assistance Association Rajbari District Branch in front of the Rajbari Civil Surgeon's Office on Tuesday from 8 am to 11 am.
At this time, General Secretary of Bangladesh Health Assistant Association Rajbari District Branch Md. Sirajul Islam delivered a speech presenting a 6-point demand.
Bangladesh Health Assistance Association Rajbari District Branch President Md. Abu Nasir Ujjal presided over the event, while Bangladesh Health Assistance Association Rajbari Sadar Upazila Branch President Md. Sabuj Shahin was present as the keynote speaker.
Bangladesh Health Assistance Association Rajbari District Branch Organizing Secretary Md. Majnu Biswas, Pangsha Branch General Secretary Md. Ariful Islam, Baliakandi Upazila Branch President Md. Mashiur Rahman were present as special speakers.
Also present at the time were Assistant Health Inspector Md. Sultan Uddin Ahmed, Md. Tobarak Hossain, Assistant Health Inspector Md. Abdur Rahim Sheikh, Md. Zillur Rahman, along with other leaders from Rajbari Sadar and 4 upazilas.
The speakers said, "Health assistants are behind all the international successes in the health sector. Yet, they have not received any recognition so far. Despite repeated promises, they have not been implemented. Now is the time to end discrimination and accept the just demands of health assistants."
The speakers called on the Ministry of Health to immediately implement the demands and said that if the demands are not implemented, more stringent programs will be implemented in the future.
