Haribhanga Mango of Rangpur has a great impact on the economy of Rangpur and Bangladesh. Recently, the recognition of this mango as a GI product has spread across the world beyond the borders of Bangladesh.

As a result, everyone thinks that this mango will have a greater impact on the overall economy of Rangpur and Bangladesh. So, it can be said that this broken mango has become a blessing in the economy of Rangpur.

According to the Rangpur Agricultural Extension Department, it is known that there are 2 thousand 537 hectares of lands areas of Haribhanga Mango trees in Rangpur. Last year mango production was 35 thousand metric tons. The concerned officials said that this yield will increase.

After visiting different areas including Rangpur Sadar, Palichra, Shampur of Badarganj, Khoragach of Mithapukur, Padaganj, small and big gardens of this areas have seen buds full of trees. Such a scene of newly budding is now not only in the vast township, but also the trees of the city are spreading the fragrance of mango buds.

Talking to the mango farmers of the area, it is said that if there is no storm or any major natural disaster this year, there will be a bumper crop of mangoes which will play an important role in changing the fate of the people of this region.

Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Mobasser Hasan said Haribhanga Mango has become a blessing in the economy of Rangpur. In the next few days, there will be an official announcement of Haribhanga Mango being considered as a GI product.

Obaidur Rahman Mandal, Additional Director of Rangpur Agricultural Extension Department said that compared to last year, the production target of pitted mangoes will increase a lot this year.
