The items used by Shaheed Mir Mahfuzur Rahman Mughd and Shaheed Mohammad Farhanul Islam Bhuiyan (Farhan Fayyaz) were handed over to the Dhaka University authorities for preservation in the ‘July Memorial Museum’ of Dhaka University.

Shaheed Farhan Fayyaz’s father Alhaj Shahidul Islam Bhuiyan and Shaheed Mughd’s twin brother Mir Mahbubur Rahman Mughd handed over these items to the Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University, Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan on Sunday, January 19, 2025.

At the time, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed, Treasurer Professor Dr. M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Dean of the Faculty of Arts Professor Dr. Mohammad Siddiqur Rahman Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts Professor Dr. Azharul Islam Sheikh, Proctor Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmed and Convener of the Provost Standing Committee Dr. Abdullah-al-Mamun were present.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan paid deep tribute to the memory of the martyrs of the July student-public uprising and said that a decision has been taken to establish a 'July Memorial Museum' at Dhaka University to preserve the memory of the martyrs and injured in the mass uprising. In addition, initiatives have been taken to organize academic research, international conferences and seminars based on the July uprising. Efforts are also being made to provide some financial assistance to the victims.

A committee has already been formed to identify and bring to justice the attackers on the university campus. To honor those who sacrificed their lives in the anti-discrimination student movement and uprising, their families are being involved in various university programs.

He mentioned that Dhaka University will establish a formal relationship with the families of martyrs by preserving the belongings used by the martyrs in the July Memorial Museum.
