Govt. reconstitutes board of journalists’ welfare trust

The government has reconstituted the board of Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting today issued a notification in this regard saying that a 13-member board of trustees has been constituted.
Adviser to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Nahid Islam will serve as the Chairman of the Board, it added.
Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting will act as Vice Chairman in the Board while Managing Director of Bangladesh Journalist Welfare Trust Mohammad Abdullah will perform his duty as Member Secretary.
According to the notification, this board of trustees has been reconstituted for a period of three years according to the section 6 of the Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust Act 2014.
Members of the Board of Trustees are: Principal Information Officer (PIO), an officer of Director General status nominated from the Office of the Prime Minister or Chief Adviser, an officer of the Joint Secretary status nominated from the Finance Division, Director General of the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) Faruk Wasif, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (Press), Vice President of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Khairul Bashar, BFUJ Executive Member Shaheen Hasnat, Special Correspondent of the Daily Kalbela Md Alauddin, Assistant Editor of Jamuna Television Mir Mushfiq Ahsan and Ekhon TV Staff Reporter Sazid Arafat.
