Govt to procure 51,973 tonnes of Aman in Khulna region

The government has set a target to procure 51,973 tonnes of paddy in Khulna division during this Aman paddy season.
Besides, a target has also been fixed to buy 74,335 tonnes of boiled rice and 5,925 tonnes of non-boiled (atap) rice.
During the procurement season, each kilogram of paddy will be bought at Tk 33, boiled rice at Tk 47, and atap rice at Tk 46.
The decision was disclosed during the Khulna divisional paddy and rice collecting and monitoring committee's meeting at the additional divisional commissioner's (development) office yesterday afternoon.
Additional divisional commissioner (development) Abu Sayed Md Monzur Alam presided over the meeting while members of the Khulna divisional paddy and rice collecting and monitoring committee, including regional food controller Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury, were present.
The procurement of paddy and boiled rice beginning on November 17, 2024, will continue till February 28, 2025, while the Atap rice procurement started on November 17, 2024, which will continue till March, 2025, the meeting informed.
It also informed that Aman paddy will be collected from farmers directly, while rice will be collected from authorized rice mill owners during the season.
