Govt plans to build full-fledged stadium in South Surma: State Minister Aminul Haque

South Surma (Sylhet) Correspondent

State Minister for Youth and Sports M. A. Aminul Haque has announced that instead of a mini-stadium, the government has undertaken a plan to construct a full-fledged, full-fleazed stadium in the South Surma upazila of Sylhet.

On Saturday afternoon, the State Minister inspected three potential locations for the proposed sports facility near the Sylhet bypass road, including Andartila, Chapra Bil in Tetli Union, and Lakshmipur. Following the field visits, he spoke to journalists, stating that the most suitable and convenient location for local residents will be selected after a thorough evaluation, and a Project Proposal (DPP) will be drafted promptly.

Highlighting ongoing nationwide sports infrastructure initiatives, the State Minister noted that the current government is actively working to construct mini-stadiums across every upazila. Work is already underway in 201 upazilas, while several other projects await land acquisition processes to conclude before construction kicks off.

The inspection tour was attended by Sylhet-3 MP M. A. Malik, Sylhet City BNP General Secretary Emdad Hossain Chowdhury, Jalalabad Gas Director Badrudduza Selim, Additional District Commissioner Masud Rana, South Surma UNO Md. Emdadul Haque Sharif, Ziaur Rahman Foundation Coordinator Md. Kamal Uddin, Sylhet District BNP Publication Secretary Lokman Ahmed, and South Surma Upazila BNP President Haji Sahab Uddin, alongside other senior government officials.
