All government employees are now required to submit their annual wealth statements to the government by 31 December each year, as per a new directive.
This year, however, all public servants must submit their asset declarations by 30 November.
The announcement was made by Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, Mokhlesur Rahman, during a press conference held at the Secretariat today.
Previously, public servants were required to declare their assets every five years. However, with the new regulation, asset declarations must now be submitted annually. "I am hopeful that this will help to curb corruption," said the Senior Secretary.
He further emphasized that failure to submit asset declarations within the stipulated time could result in severe penalties, including forced retirement, removal from office, or dismissal from service.
To streamline the submission process, a five-member committee has been formed, led by the Secretary of the Anti-Corruption Commission. The committee will define the procedure and the platform through which the asset reports should be submitted.
