Gold smuggler held with 18 bars in Benapole

A youth was arrested with 18 gold bars weighing 2kg from Benapole's Putkhali border while smuggling into India.

aBorder Guard Bangladesh BGB detained the smuggler.

The gold shipment was seized from Putkhali Masjidbari check post in Benapole on Tuesday evening.

Khulna-21 BGB Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Khurshid Anwar.

The detained Aktarul Islam (20) is the son of Abu Bakr of Khalshi village of Benapole Port police station.
This BGB officer said, as part of the regular search at the Masjid Bari check post, an easybike driver from Benapole was detained and questioned as his behavior was suspicious during the search.

Later, his body was searched and 18 gold bars were found hidden in a special manner, weighing 2.080 kg.
The market value of recovered gold is one crore 88 lakh 34 thousand 686 rupees.

A case has been registered in Benapole Port Police Station in this regard. The detained Akhtar has been handed over to Benapole Port Police Station.

The BGB official said that the gold consignment will be deposited in Jessore's treasury branch.
