
Gold price back up to Tk1.53 lakh per bhori

Jewellers have inflated the price of high-quality gold further by Tk2,613 to Tk1,53,475 per bhori (11.664 grams) due to a hike in the price of pure gold in the local market.
The Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring of the Bangladesh Jeweller’s Association (BAJUS) made the decision at a meeting held on Sunday.
The price of 22-carat gold will now be Tk13,158 per gram, and 21-carat Tk12,560 per gram, according to a press release signed by the committee chairman, Masudur Rahman.
The price of 18-carat gold has been fixed at Tk10,766 a gram while that of traditional gold at Tk8,871 per gram.
New tariffs would come into effect on Monday, the release added.
On 20 February, gold prices hit a record high of Tk1,54,525 per bhori, the highest ever in the country.
However, prices of silver remained unchanged.
The price of 22-carat silver is Tk221 per gram, 21-carat Tk210, 18-carat Tk181, and traditional one is Tk136 per gram.
