
Global Handwashing Day observed in Rangamati

On the occasion of Global Handwashing Day 2024, a discussion meeting has been organized by Rangamati Hill District Council and Directorate of Public Health Engineering under the theme "Why Are Clean Hand Still Important"
On Tuesday at 11 am, Chief Executive Officer of Rangamati Hill District Council Khondkar Muhammad Rizaul Karim inaugurated the hand washing program as the chief guest. Later, a discussion meeting was held in the annex building of the district council.
Parag Barua, executive engineer of the Directorate of Public Health and Engineering, said that the purpose of celebrating this day every year is to make people aware to wash their hands regularly and use safe water for all activities, and to stay clean.Sanitation coverage in Rangamati district is 64.63 percent. The coverage of fresh water in the district is 63.70 percent.
He said, "We are trying to ensure improved sanitation in remote hill areas to achieve 100% coverage of school sanitation in remote hill areas. Our effort is to provide improved sanitation services to Rangamati district.
Under the chairmanship of Parag Barua, executive engineer of Public Health Engineering Department, special guest, Deputy Director of Rangamati District Commissioner's Office, Local Government Division, Nasreen Sultana, District Primary Education Officer Hrishikesh Sheel was present in the event. Besides, Assistant Engineer of District Public Health Directorate Subrata Barua, Estimator Purnendu Chakma, Accounting Assistant Zahidul Islam Roni were present.
