Like all over the country Global Hand Washing Day was celebrated with the slogan "Clean hands are always important for health protection" in Charghat Upazila of Rajshahi.

The Day was celebrated on Tuesday, September 15 at 9 am by upazila administration and Public Health Engineering department. At the beginning of the program, hand washing and discussion meeting was held at the end of the upazila campus tour.

Upazila Executive Officer Sanjida Sultana presided over the program. Students and teachers of various educational institutions participated in the hand washing program under the supervision of Upazila Public Health Sub-Assistant Engineer Mehdi Hasan. At that time, Public Health Sub-Assistant Engineer demonstrated various rules and principles of keeping hands clean to the students.

In this regard, Charghat Upazila Health Complex Officer Doctor Ashiqur Rahman said that about 70% of diseases can be cured by washing or keeping hands clean. Due to unclean hands, hepatitis, dysentery, infectious diseases and other diseases can be avoided.

Assistant Commissioner (Land) Arif Hossain said, we all know the saying that health is the root of all happiness but we do not believe it. Everyone works in various professions to earn a living. Students also take lessons in various educational institutions from morning to afternoon. Small children often eat food from the open market without realizing it, which is not healthy. Moreover, at that time they are not even thinking about cleaning. Due to which many unseen harmful organisms are passing through the hands to the stomach. At some point they get sick. Every family and educational institution should be aware of cleanliness.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sanjida Sultana said in the president's speech that the practice of hand washing should be spread through awareness. Follow the rules of staying healthy with the advice of doctors.

At the end of work or daily work, the body and clothes should be kept clean. Wash hands properly before eating. Every parent should practice hand washing to keep their children healthy. Hand washing day is being celebrated at the international level because it is important to wash hands.
