The Hon’y Consul Ebrahim Dawood Mamoon, who is the Chairman of Kai-Altech Group at the Consulate of Ghana, warmly welcomed the Ghanian trade and investment team on their maiden visit to Bangladesh following immediately on the heels of the recently concluded Ghanian Foreign Minister’s visit in February.
He gave them an appraisal of his industries and businesses which were mainly aluminum, stainless steel, paper production etc, which were all non-textile.
The Ghanian team leader congratulated the Hon’y Consul on his appointment and briefed him regarding the purpose of their visit which was to promote trade and investment between the two countries. Both sides discussed possibilities in trade opportunities, possibilities in collaboration in pharmaceutical industry, car industry, etc.
The Hon’y Consul inquired on prospects of contract farming and trade to start with but mentioned that he was open to any business which may be viable. The Ghanian team invited the Hon’y Consul to visit Ghana, if possible, along with other interested partners.
Both sides expressed optimism for mutual collaboration which would cement the bonds of meaningful friendship and cooperation between Bangladesh and Ghana in trade and industry sectors.
The visiting team was informed that Ghana has a relatively small but vibrant community in Bangladesh of whom roughly half are engaged in higher studies and the rest in soccer after which the delegation went around the newly opened Consulate of Ghana.
Both sides hoped that this visit would act as a harbinger for opening cooperation on the trade and investment sector.
