Gazipur train derailment BNP’s sabotage: Quader

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has alleged that the train derailment in Gazipur, that claimed one life, was a premeditated act of sabotage orchestrated by BNP.
“It is an outcome of BNP’s planned sabotage. The party men are engaged in carrying out subversive activities including setting fire to bus and train in an attempt to foil the January 7 national election,” Quader said on Wednesday.
While talking to reporters at Awami League President Sheikh Hasina’s political office in Dhanmondi area of Dhaka, he said, “BNP men are indulged in acts of sabotage. It is an anti-election plot designed to hinder the 12th parliamentary election.”
A total of 7 coaches of a Dhaka- train derailed near Bhawal railway station in Gazipur on Wednesday morning as miscreants deliberately damaged the rail tracks during the last day of the 36-hour blockade enforced by BNP.
Meanwhile, two investigation committees were formed to find out the cause of the accident.
Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges minister, has called upon the members and activists of his party to enhance vigilance to ensure a sufficient voter turnout in the upcoming election.
“I am discussing with our like-minded parties to make the efforts successful as we are committed to holding a free, fair and acceptable election,” he said.
