GAU holds seminar on 'Industry-Academia Ties and Career Prospects '

Strengthening industry-academia partnerships to translate university research into market-ready innovations and expanding career opportunities for graduates were the key focuses of two seminar sessions held at Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) on Saturday.
The seminars, titled Connecting Research with Markets: Unlocking the Potential of GAU Innovations through Industry-Academia Partnerships and Beyond the Degree: Navigating Diverse Career Pathways for GAU Graduates, were held at Begum Sufia Kamal Auditorium.
Prof. Dr. Abdullah-Al-Mamun, Member of UGC attended as the chief guest. GAU VC Prof. Dr. GKM Mustafizur Rahman chaired both sessions. Pro-VC Prof. Dr. Md. Jahedur Rahman and Treasurer Prof. Dr. Md. Safiul Islam Afrad attended as special guests.
The first session brought together representatives from 30 public and private industrial organisations, alongside GAU deans, directors, teachers, researchers and other stakeholders.
Discussions focused on commercialising research, translating innovations into practical applications and strengthening collaboration between academia and industry. In his remarks, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. GKM Mustafizur Rahman said, Connecting university research and innovation with industry can open new avenues for the national economy.
Chief guest Prof. Dr. Abdullah-Al-Mamun stressed the importance of harnessing young peoples innovative potential and technological skills to implement the Prime Ministers Korbo Kaj, Gorbo Desh, Shobar Age Bangladesh program. Referring to a Tk 500 cr startup budget allocation and Tk 800 cr financing in Creative Industry in the year of 2026-27, he underscored the need to create opportunities for young entrepreneurs.
The program was moderated by Prof. Dr. Farhana Yeasmin, Director of the Outreach Centre. Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Jahedur Rahman delivered the vote of thanks.
