
Friendship organizes free health camp to reduce maternal, infant mortality risk in Shyamnagar

To reduce the risk of maternal and infant mortality, a free health service camp for pregnant mothers was organized by Friendship in Shyamnagar Upazila of the coastal district of Satkhira on Monday.
The day-long free health camp was inaugurated by Dr. Nahid Nazrul, head of Shyamnagar Friendship Hospital, at the Friendship Hospital in Sowalia. In his inaugural speech, he emphasized the importance of organizing free health camps to reduce the risk of death among mothers and infants in coastal areas. The camp’s medical services were provided by Friendship Hospital’s gynecology specialist Dr. Mahfuza Alam and experienced ultrasonologist and pediatrician Dr. Shahriar Hasan. Pregnant mothers from various parts of the upazila received prenatal health check-ups, blood group tests, ultrasound examinations, and prescriptions. It is reported that after the inauguration of the free health camp, a tree-planting ceremony was held on the hospital premises. Doctors and administrative officials of the hospital were present at the event. During the opening ceremony, the Friendship Hospital authorities stated that they regularly organize various medical service camps in the hospital, including eye care camps and special operation camps, to serve the local community.
