
Freedom fighter Nurul Islam laid to rest with state honour

The funeral of veteran cloth merchant and freedom fighter Nurul Islam (74) of Pirgachha Bazar, Rangpur has been completed.
His namaz-e-janaza was held at Dr. Toyeab Hossain Stadium adjacent to Paschimebu Bazar in Pirgachha at 10.30 am on Friday.
After the funeral, a guard of honour was given with state honours in the presence of UNO Nazmul Haque Sumon. After that, he was buried in the family graveyard.
The brave freedom fighter Nurul Islam served as the former president of the Pirgachha Bazar Shop Owners and Traders Association and the Pirgachha Railway Station Jame Mosque. He had been suffering from terminal cancer for a long time.
He died at 2:45 pm on Thursday in Paschimdebu village. He left behind his wife, two daughters and a son, along with numerous admirers. Upazila Muktijoddha Sangsad Command, businessmen and well-wishers expressed condolence.
