Fraud case against Railway Contractor Biplob Sen over Tk 1.4 cr bounced cheque
Chattogram Bureau
A fellow contractor has filed a case against Biplob Sen, an enlisted contractor of Bangladesh Railway (Eastern Zone), alleging cheque fraud involving Tk 1.4 crore.
The case was filed on Monday (June 23) at the Chattogram Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court by Nasir Uddin, proprietor of Messrs Nasir Enterprise.
Biplob Sen (49), son of late Ahi Bhushan Sen of Baptist Mission Road, Firingibazar, is the proprietor of the contracting firm BS Corporation.
Confirming the case, the complainant's lawyer Advocate Md. Bashirul Huda Sohan said, "My client Nasir Uddin was owed Tk 1.4 crore by Biplob Sen. In repayment, Sen issued a cheque, which was later dishonored due to insufficient funds in the account. Even after being served a legal notice, Sen did not respond. As a result, we proceeded with legal action. The court has taken the case into cognizance and issued a summons against the accused. The next hearing has been scheduled for August 26. If the accused fails to appear on that date, an arrest warrant may be issued."
According to the case statement, Biplob Sen owed Nasir Tk 1.4 crore and issued a cheque (CD-3906962) on April 15 as payment. However, when Nasir submitted the cheque to the City Bank Pahartali branch on May 5, it bounced due to insufficient funds. On May 12, Nasir sent a legal notice demanding repayment. The notice was returned on May 20, as the recipient could not be located.
