In response to the devastating floods caused by relentless rainfall in various parts of Bangladesh, four Ottawa-based Bengali symphonic metal bands united for a fundraising concert to support flood relief efforts.

The concert, titled “Opartheeb’s Abchha Neel Kona - Live,” was organized by the Ottawa-based Bengali symphonic metal band Opartheeb in collaboration with Get Up Stand Up and Ankur International. It took place on Saturday at 6 PM at the Algonquin Commons Theatre in Ottawa.

Ankur International will manage the distribution of relief funds and goods to those affected by the floods. The event featured performances from Canadian local bands Opartheeb, Bidrohi, Gohin, and Man on Bike.

A spokesperson from Get Up Stand Up told this correspondent that the concert raised approximately 200,000 taka, which will initially be allocated to flood victims in the Sherpur district. The concert is still being streamed online, (live streaming link is available at https://www.facebook.com/opartheebmusic) and proceeds from the streams will also be used to support the underprivileged.

This concert is part of a larger series of events aimed at raising funds for flood victims. Altogether, these efforts have generated around 5 million taka, which will go towards rehabilitation projects in various flood-affected areas across the country.

In addition to the concert, the organizing group has been actively collecting relief aid through several donor organizations and is continuing its efforts in providing relief and rehabilitation assistance to flood victims in different regions, according to the organizers.

Salehin Chowdhury, lead guitarist and vocalist of Opartheeb, stated that the donations will also be used for health and welfare initiatives benefiting local communities. He expressed hope that the band can continue to support those in need through the power of music.

During the event, Opartheeb unveiled their new album “Abchha Neel Kona.” Alongside them, the three other Canadian Bengali bands—Bidrohi, Gohin, and Man on Bike—delivered powerful performances. All venue and technical expenses were sponsored by Prince Mortgage Team - Dominion Lending Centres National.

Opartheeb captivated the audience with songs from their new album, including fan favorites like “Bangal,” “Rupokotha,” “Sagarer Pronoy,” “Tumi Nei,” and “Joddha.” The band’s signature blend of deep lyrics, metal rhythms, and orchestral arrangements transported the crowd into a world of ethereal melodies.
