
Former Rajbari MP Kazi Keramat Ali sent to jail

A court has rejected the bail application of former Rajbari-1 MP and district Awami League vice-president Kazi Keramat Ali and ordered him to be sent to prison in a case filed in connection with the shooting, bomb blasts and attacks on a student-public march against discrimination in Rajbari.Rajbari Kot Police Inspector Md. Jasim Uddin confirmed the matter.
On Monday at around 12:30 pm, Rajbari Administrative Court Judge (Rajbari Sadar) Md. Tamjid Ahmed gave this order. Later, he was taken from the court to jail under tight security by the district police. While being taken to jail, some people raised false slogans when they saw Kazi Keramat Ali in the court premises.According to court sources, an attack on a student march against discrimination took place in Barapul, Rajbari on July 18. On August 30, student Rajib Molla filed a case with Rajbari Sadar Police Station alleging that Kazi Keramat Ali was involved in the attack. The accused in the case is Kazi Keramat Ali. The Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) arrested Kazi Keramat Ali, a former member of parliament from Rajbari-1 constituency, from Mohakhali, Dhaka, on Sunday night in Rajib Molla's case.The plaintiff's lawyer, Adv. Nekbar Hossain Moni, said, the former MP is known as a sand pirate of Rajbari. He is an ally of the dictator Sheikh Hasina. There are allegations against him of attacking students. After the attack on the students, Kazi Keramat Ali did not allow medical care to be provided to the injured students.Advocate for the accused, Adv. Gautam Basu, said, "We had filed a bail application for former MP Kazi Keramat Ali in the learned court. The learned court has rejected the bail and ordered to send him to jail. We will appeal in the High Court."
