Former MP of Lalmonirhat, AL leader arrested

The District Detective Branch of Police DB has arrested Advocate Safura Begum Rumi, a fugitive accused in multiple sabotage and murder cases in Lalmonirhat, former Awami League reserved women's seat MP.
A special team of Lalmonirhat DB police, with the help of information technology, conducted a drive in the Mohammadpur area of the capital and arrested her on Wednesday night.
She is a resident of Taluk Khutamara area of Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila and is a member of the central Awami League and the president of the women's wing of the district Awami League.
Police said that there are multiple cases against her, including murder, sabotage and fraud. Among them, a murder case at the Kotwali Police Station of Rangpur Metropolitan Police and a case under the Speedy Trial Act at the Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station are notable.
She is also an accused in a murder case filed at the Mohammadpur Police Station in Dhaka.
According to the information provided by the police, he had been hiding in Dhaka since August 5, 2024, after leaving Lalmonirhat, and was conducting various activities from there. DB Police said that necessary legal action is under process against the arrested accused. District DB Police OC Saad Ahmed confirmed the arrest in a press release on April 9 noon.
