Former cricketers gather for reunion tournament in Faridpur

A daylong promotional cricket tournament was held at the Faridpur District Stadium today to mark a reunion of former cricketers from the region. The event, which ran from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Saturday, brought together around 110 veteran athletes who were divided into four specialized competing teams.
The stadium grounds turned festive early in the morning as generations of cricketers reunited on the pitch after years, sharing memories and rekindling old friendships. According to the event coordinators, the primary objective of the initiative was to establish a reunion platform for retired players, reminisce about historic matches, and strengthen camaraderie across the regional cricket fraternity.
The high-profile gathering featured former Bangladesh national team players, veteran division league cricketers, and prominent ex-members of the Faridpur district squad. Among the notable personalities in attendance were former national cricketer Mokhlesur Rahman Bablu, former cricketer Kazi Asad, current ICC International Panel Umpire Masudur Rahman Mukul, ex-cricketer Golam Nasim, former national pacer Talha Jubair, and former national player Mahbub Alam Robin. Other prominent veterans included Zahir Uddin Sajal, Ashfaq Ali Rahat, Mahbubul Alam Nikkon, Rubayet Ferdous Jami, and Sayfur Rahman Sajib.
Four designated teams—Faridpur Cricket Academy, Talha-Jubair XI, Evergreen XI, and FKCC XI—competed in the knockout fixture.
Following the preliminary rounds, Talha-Jubair XI locked horns with FKCC XI in the grand finale. Batting first, FKCC XI managed to score 112 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their stipulated 20 overs, setting a target of 113. In response, Talha-Jubair XI chased down the total comfortably, scoring 113 runs in just 17 overs with 5 wickets in hand to secure a comprehensive victory.
At the post-match presentation ceremony, championship and runner-up trophies were handed over to the respective captains. Individual prizes for the 'Man of the Match' and 'Man of the Tournament' were also awarded for outstanding performances. To conclude the celebratory event, the organizing committee presented special honorary mementos to the invited former national cricketers for their lifelong contributions to Bangladesh's sports sector.
