Fisheries Officer Jasmine Akhter inspected several fish markets in the upazila including Sadar Bazar, Kamranirchar Bazar, Gopaldi Bazar, and Bishanandi Bazar on Monday for this purpose. During this time, she gave awareness advice to fish traders to protect mother hilsa. Several staff members from her office were with her at the time.
She said that fishermen should play an active role in protecting mother hilsa during the breeding season to protect the birth and spread of hilsa.
