Fire in car of journalists in Juri

The engine of a microbus carrying journalists caught fire in Juri of Moulvibazar, but the vehicle was badly damaged, but everyone in the vehicle narrowly escaped with their lives.

The incident took place in Manik Singh Bazar area of Juri-Kulaura regional highway on Friday evening.

It is learnt that two cars of journalists come to visit various places of interest in Juri Upazila along with their families. On the way back after the tour, the car's engine caught fire when it reached the Manik Singh Bazar area of the Juri-Kulaura Regional Highway of the upazila (Dhaka Metro-Cha 11-6457). As soon as the fire broke out, everyone in the car, including the driver, got down quickly. Panic spread as the car caught fire instantly.

Later, the leaders of the labor organization including the labor leader Islam Uddin and Ajay Das and the surrounding people came and tried to control the fire of the car. As the car caught fire in no time, they threw the car into the water of the nearby ditch to put out the fire.

The fire was extinguished before a team of Kulaura Fire Service reached the spot after receiving the information. After the car caught fire, there was a traffic jam for about a kilometer on both sides of the road. Several cars got stuck in it.

After receiving the information, a police team headed by SI Khairul Islam Badal of Juri police station went to the spot and normalized the traffic.

Islam Uddin and Ajay Das, labor leaders who rescued the car, said that as soon as the car caught fire, we first tried to put it out. But when the fire spread to the car immediately, we put water and clay in the nearby ditch to control the fire. Later, with the help of everyone, the car was rescued by extinguishing the fire.

Saiful Islam Moulvibazar district representative of Kaler Kantha, who was in the car that was involved in the accident, said that the former joint editor of Kaler Kantha, Tauhidur Rahman, was in the car with his wife and children.

Mahbub Hossain Ripon, staff reporter of Sylhet Bureau office of Jamuna Television was in another car. Although the car was heavily damaged in the fire, they survived.
