Fire breaks out at Ctg sugar mill

A devastating fire broke out at the S Alam Refined Sugar Industries Ltd at Moijjartek in the port city on Monday afternoon.
The fire started around 4pm at the mill, owned by S Alam Group, located on the bank of the Karnaphuli River, said Chattogram Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) Assistant Director Md Abdul Malek.
No casualties were reported in the incident.
The cause behind the fire could not be ascertained immediately, he added.
Seven firefighting units from different stations rushed to the spot and were trying to extinguish the blaze that erupted at the mill’s warehouse, according to the FSCD media cell.
