
Fines, eviction drive in Srinagar

A total of Tk 10,000 was fined in five cases under the Road Transport Act, while one person was fined Tk 100,000 under the Soil and Sand Management Act. Additionally, several illegal dredgers were removed in different areas.
To prevent traffic congestion during Eid travel, an operation was conducted this afternoon in key locations, including the Chanbari Underpass in Srinagar Upazila. No significant traffic jams were observed during the operation. Five cases were filed under sections 66, 70, and 90 of the Road Transport Act 2018, imposing fines for driving without a license, missing tax tokens, and illegal parking to pick up passengers.
Simultaneously, a crackdown on illegal landfilling was carried out in various parts of Srinagar Upazila. Around 2 kilometers of pipeline were removed in Kabutorkhola and Tindokan areas of Rarikhal Union. A person was fined 100,000 BDT under section 15 of the Soil and Sand Management Act 2010. Following this, dredgers and pipelines were removed from four locations in Patabhog, Singpara, and Birtara Unions.
Srinagar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Jobayer Habib stated, such operations would continue. The drive was carried out with the assistance of local land officials and Srinagar police.
