Father, son attacked over previous enmity in Narail, hospitalized in critical condition

A father and son, Abid Sheikh and Shamim Sheikh, were seriously injured in a knife attack by their rivals in the Joypur Mor area of Kalia Upazila, Narail.
The attack, allegedly linked to past enmity, took place on Wednesday at around 11:30 AM. The victims are residents of Charkandipara in Kalabaria village.
According to local sources, Anich Sheikh, son of Mosharref Sheikh from the same area, was murdered about a year ago. Shamim Sheikh was named as an accused in that murder case. On Wednesday morning, Shamim Sheikh was taking his ailing father to a doctor in an easy bike (battery-run auto-rickshaw) when they were ambushed at Joypur Mor.
A group of 9-10 assailants, allegedly led by Mosharref Sheikh’s son and local member Sohel Sheikh, arrived on three motorcycles and launched a sudden attack. The attackers hacked the father and son with sharp weapons, leaving them critically injured before fleeing the scene.
Locals quickly rescued the victims and took them to Kalia Upazila Health Complex. As Shamim Sheikh’s condition was critical, doctors referred him to Khulna Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
Kalia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Rashedul Islam said, "Upon receiving information, police were dispatched to the scene, and we are monitoring the treatment of the injured. The situation in the area is currently under control."
Meanwhile, Naragati Police Station OC Md. Shariful Islam stated, "Additional police forces have been deployed in the Kalabaria area, and law enforcement patrols are ongoing to maintain order."
