Farmers Field Day held on paddy cultivation technology thru' transplanters in Narail

As part of the expansion of modern agricultural technology, a farmers field day on rice cultivation through rice transplanters was held in Tularampur, Narail Sadar Upazila.
This was organized on Wednesday at Tularampur Ashar Alo College grounds under the CGIAR's Scaling for Impact (S4I) project. Local farmers, agricultural officials and concerned persons participated in it.
The program was attended by the chief guest, agriculturist Dr. Md. Hazrat Ali, director of the Department of Agricultural Extension (Horticulture Wing). The special guest was the agriculturist Md. Rafiqul Islam, additional director of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Khulna region. The keynote paper was presented by the regional coordinator of the Jessore region, CMIT Bangladesh, agriculturist Md. Zakaria Hasan.
Narail Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Krishibid Md. Rokonuzzaman delivered the welcome speech and Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Narail, Krishibid Muhammad Arifur Rahman presided.
Chief guest Agriculturist Dr. Md. Hazrat Ali said that currently the labor crisis in the agriculture sector has become a big challenge. Many people are leaving agriculture and moving to garments, industries or other professions. One of the reasons for this is that agricultural work is relatively less profitable and labor-intensive.
He said that considering this reality, the government is working to innovate and expand various technologies to make agriculture modern and profitable. Using machines like rice transplanters will make it possible to plant rice in less time, at less cost and with less labor. This will reduce the production cost of the farmer and increase profits.
He also said that there is no alternative but to increase the use of modern technology to make agriculture sustainable and attractive. Therefore, he called on farmers to be motivated to use these technologies. At the end of the ceremony, Sajina planted a shield on the college ground.
