Farid Mama's 35 spice tea very popular at Manohardi

Manohardi (Narsingdi) Correspondent

Remote village of Manohardi is a fringe neighborhood of West Birgaon. Birgaon is a village town half a kilometer away from Chowrasta Bazar.

Very simple and unpretentious arrangement. There is a 10/12 mango jackfruit litchi tree together like a garden. Covering leaves above the head. On the edge of the crop field. Flowing by the side. Black steep path. On one side of it is a temporary curtain of colored cloth. Four benches made with the help of local materials. Three betel leaves on the floor. They are arranged on bamboo poles.

Which is mango, which is litchi, which is jackfruit on the floor. Four plastic chairs. The usual equipment for tea with three kettles on the far side. Below is a red plastic box. Various spices in it. Some one has two, three, four or even 16 spices in one.

Farid uncle has 10 to 30 together. Mix those spices in the cup until tea little by little. Many things in his tea shop are exceptional. Like breaking the traditional rules, his shop starts after Asr prayer. Runs till midnight. Customers from far away come in groups. Cycle Honda Easybike CNG Micro in various ways. Drink tea. As well as gossip. They leave. Again a group comes. Very few unaccompanied people come here.

Katiyadi Pakundia Mathkhola Manohardi Sagardi Khidirpur Chalakchar Nayapara Shivpur They came from many places. The shop was closed for a long time in the middle. As a result many of them have not found their new address yet. Farid is a stoutly built brother in his mid-fifties. So far, his tea shop has changed its location 4 times. Earlier, his tea had 27 spices. Now it has 35 spices.

Cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, arjuna, amlaki, bahera, haritaki, seven sandalwood, sandalwood powder, etc. are among his spices. In terms of spices, there are fried chillies, green chillies, lemon, bay leaf, kalijira, kafila etc. He prepares this 35 masala one day a week. It lasts for seven days, when it is finished, he makes it again. In addition, there are some other spices in this tea, which he will not mention because of his business secrets. Only liquor tea is 5 taka. Half spice tea is 10 taka and 35 masala tea is 20 taka.

These are three grades of tea. On Thursdays of the week, sales are less. On other days, if there is no fair or night event in the area, the sales accumulate. This is how Farid Bhai's family survives. His wife is sick. He has also had an eye operation.

The twilight of the evening has descended on the heart of the quiet rural village. A nocturnal bird has come out of its daytime shelter.

He is flying randomly over the green paddy field. The hookah wind has started from all around. A mixture of mild winter and fog. Such a basanti evening. Such a rural time environment and place.
