Excavator, 3 drum trucks seized while digging pond illegally in Baraigram

Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md. Ashraful Islam seized an excavator machines (Veku) and three drum trucks for the crime of digging a pond and selling soil elsewhere in Baraigram of Natore.
He seized the vehicle and the drum trucks while digging Mukul Hossain's pond in Jamaidighi village of Nagar Union of the upazila on Sunday evening.
It is learnt from the concerned department and local residents that the soil businessman Md Astore Ali of Dhanaidah area and his companions were digging a pond with an excavator machine in Jamaidighi village in the darkness of the night for a few days in the approximate seven bighas of land of Mukul Hossain. Soil businessmen used to carry the soil from the pond with the help of drum trucks and sell it at different places. Jamaidighi Government Primary School is located on the edge of the pond.
The authorities constructed several hundred meters of road for the young children to travel. The road has been destroyed due to the movement of drum trucks. In this situation, a raid was conducted there under the leadership of Ashraful Islam, an Executive Magistrate.
After receiving the advance message of the raid, veku and truck drivers escaped leaving their vehicles. At that time, veku and three drum trucks loaded with soil were seized and brought to the upazila parishad premises. In addition,the upazila administration seized another seven excavator vehicles from another places for the crime of illegally digging ponds. Those vehicles have been kept in the upazila parishad premises.
