Ex-IGP Mamun placed on 43-day remand in 8 cases

A Dhaka court has placed former Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun on a 43-day remand in eight separate murder cases filed during the July-August student movement.

Judge Shahin Reza of Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court passed the order when investigation officer produced him before the court seeking 62 days remand player on Tuesday.

Besides, Mamun’s layer filed a petition with the court, seeking cancellation of the remand player.

Upon hearing both sides, the court granted 43-day remand.

Out of the total 43-day remand, a seven-day remand has been granted in the Shakib Hasan murder case filed with Jatrabari Police Station, a seven-day remand in the Iman Hossain Gazi murder case, a five-day remand in the Irfan Bhuiyan murder case, a five-day remand in the Muntasir Rahman murder case, a five-day remand in the Sujan murder case, a four-day remand in the Rafiqul Islam murder case, a five-day remand for Mahmudul Hasan Joy, and a five-day remand in a murder case filed with New Market Police Station.
