Eid-ul-Fitr: Empty Dhaka appears again

Staff Correspondent

Dhaka dwellers have witnessed a different picture again of the city which has already worn an empty look as thousands of people left the capital to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with their families, relatives, and friends at their village homes.

Usually, the city takes a deserted look twice every year during the holidays of Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha.

Dhaka streets and intersections were empty with the thin presence of public transport, cars, CNG-run autorickshaws, and rickshaws on Wednesday, the last day before Eid.

Some people were seen going to markets and shopping malls for their last-minute purchases.

Law enforcement agencies have already taken measures to ensure security in the capital.
