EC orders withdrawal of two police commissioners, one DC; transfer of 5 SPs

The Election Commission has ordered the withdrawal of two metropolitan police commissioners, one deputy commissioner, and five superintendents of police as part of measures to ensure a free and fair 12th national election.
Besides, the EC has ordered transfers of the officer-in-charges of three police stations—Manikganj Sadar and Singair of Manikganj, and Shreepur of Gazipur—to outside their respective districts, according to a press release, signed by Md Asadul Haque, assistant director (public relations) at the EC.
The commissioners issued withdrawal orders are from the metropolitan police in Barishal and Sylhet, while the deputy commissioner is from Brahmanbaria.
The superintendents of police are from Habiganj, Pirojpur, Noakhali, Satkhira, and Meherpur.
EC has written to the respective ministries to send proposals for the appointment of experienced and qualified personnel in their positions for approval.
