DU Department of Geography and Environment organises 'Idea Sharing' workshop

An 'Idea Sharing' workshop on `Mitigation and Adaptation Strategies for Extreme Heat in Dhaka City ' was held at the Department's Professor M Aminul Islam Resource Room on Thursday under the Heat Sub-Project initiated by the Department of Geography and Environment, University of Dhaka. Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education), Prof Dr. Abdus Salam, who is assigned the routine duties of the Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University, was present as the chief guest at the event.
The project is being managed by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh with funding from the World Bank.
Dean of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences and SPM of the sub-project, Professor Dr. Md. Humayun Kabir, chaired the workshop, Additional Director General of the Department of Environment, Md. Ziaul Haque, was the special guest, and Chairman of the Department of Geography and Environment, Prof Dr. Kazi Md. Fazlul Haque, spoke as the guest of honor. ASPM of the sub-project, Prof Dr. Achib Ahmed, gave a presentation on the research activities. Administrative Officer of the sub-project, Ismat Hasnain, highlighted the progress of the project. Sub-project member, Prof Dr. Nahid Rezwana, conducted the program. Chairmen of various departments under the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences, teachers and students were present at the time.
Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Abdus Salam said that this research project will play a helpful role in combating the intense heat wave in Dhaka city.
