
DU classes started with1-minute silence programme in memory of martyrs of uprising

Dhaka University undergraduate program classes for all other years except 1st year classes have started from Sunday (22nd September 2024).
The 1st year classes of the undergraduate program for the academic year 2023-2024 will start from Monday, September 30, 2024. On the eve of the start of classes, a 1-minute silence program was held in memory of the martyrs of the 2024 student uprising at Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building premises at 9:30 am on Sunday. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan led the programme.
Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Dr. Saima Haque Bidisha, Treasurer Prof. Dr. Mohammad Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Proctor Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmad and Deans of various faculties participated in the programme. Pigeons are flown as a symbol of peace.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan said, the decision to start the classes has been taken after discussing with all the participants of the university including teachers and students. He sought the cooperation of all stakeholders including teachers, students, media workers in conducting education programs in a fair, peaceful and effective manner.
He said that the students are in a kind of emotional trauma due to the situation arising from the anti-discrimination student movement. We are working to resolve this trauma and conflict between teachers and students. Necessary measures will be taken to make up for the lack of study of the students.
Then, at 10:30 in the morning, the Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmad Khan visited the classrooms of various faculties and spoke to teachers and students. He expressed satisfaction that the classes were held in a cordial, cordial and peaceful atmosphere. Important people of the university administration were present.
