DSEC election : President Anik, Joint Secretary Jawahar Iqbal

Muktadir Anik and Jawahar Iqbal Khan won the post of President and General Secretary respectively in the biennial elections of Dhaka Sub-Editors Council (DSEC), an organization of professional journalists.

The result was announced on Tuesday night. Earlier, polling took place in a festive atmosphere from 9 am. Counting started after polling at 5 pm.

In the announced results, Muktadir Anik won the post of president by getting 359 votes. His nearest rival KM Shahidul Haque got 232 votes and Abul Kalam Azad got 228 votes.

Jawahar Iqbal Khan won the post of general secretary by getting 497 votes. His nearest rival Kabir Alamgir got 316 votes.

Besides, Ali Imam Sumon was elected as vice president by getting 435 votes. Monir Ahmed Zarif was elected as joint general secretary with 507 votes and Nazim ud-Daula Saadi with 421 votes as treasurer.

Shahid Rana won the post of organizing secretary by getting 464 votes. His nearest rival Taufiq Apu got 329 votes.

Apart from this, Zafrul Alam as office secretary, Md. as publicity and publication secretary. Arif Ahmed, Tarek Hossain Bappi as training and research secretary, Nahid Hasan as sports and cultural secretary, Md. as welfare secretary. Farhana Nazneen Flora won the post of Safayet Hossain, Women Affairs Editor.

The winners of the executive member positions are–Shamsul Alam Setu, Anjuman Ara Shilpi, Anjuman Ara Moon, Jasmine Jahan, Tanjimul Nayan and Mohammad Abu Yusuf.
