Dhaka District North Detective Branch (DB) arrested a drug dealer named Sohel Joti Chakma (40) in Ashulia, Dhaka. During this time, 6 thousand 200 pieces of Yaba tablets were recovered from him.

This information was confirmed by the OC of Dhaka District North Detective Branch Riaz Uddin Ahmed Biplob through a press release on Thursday.

Earlier, he was arrested from Pandhowa Bazar area adjacent around to Jahangirnagar University in Ashulia 6:30 pm on Wednesday.

The arrested Sohel Joti Chakma is the son of Chandak Lal Chakma of No. 33 Nunchari VP Para area of Dighanala police station of Khagrachari district. He was living in Professor's Tower in Ambagan area adjacent to Jahangirnagar University in Ashulia and was doing Yaba business for a long time.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Dhaka District North Detective Branch (DB) Riaz Uddin Ahmed Biplob said, Dhaka District Police Superintendent Asaduzzaman PPM (Bar) and under the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police (DB) Mobashshira Habib Khan And under my leadership in the afternoon on the basis of secret information DB Police Sub Inspector (SI) Md. Sahidul Islam PPM and Sangeet Force raided Pandhowa Bazar in Ashulia and arrested Sohel Joti Chakma.

During this time, 6 thousand 200 pieces of Yaba tablets were recovered from him.

OC also said, the said accused was known during the initial interrogation. He had been collecting yaba from different districts for a long time by adopting various techniques and selling it to dealers and retail drug sellers in Jahangirnagar University and its surrounding areas. In this incident, a case has been filed against him under Narcotics Control Act at Ashulia police station and sent to court.
