Do's and Don'ts of Friday

Do's and Don'ts of Friday

Dr. Muhammad Mahtab Hossain Mazed

Today is Friday 25th October 2024, 09 Kartika 1431, 21 Rabius Sani 1446 Hijri. One of the days that Allah Almighty has blessed and characterized in terms of action is FridayMany rituals and historical events are associated with this day. Among the days of the week, Friday is the most virtuous day. The dignity of this day is known through various interpretations of the Qur'an and Hadith.

Jumaba is an auspicious day for Muslims. This day is called weekly Eid in hadith. The day has been considered very important since the beginning of creation. Some important events in human history happened on Friday. There is a distinct Surah in the Holy Quran called Juma. The practice of the most prestigious day is also more virtuous than the rest of the six days of the week.

> The 12 Masnoon periods of Friday

12 masnoon acts are highlighted in point size from the vast collection of hadith.

1) Bathing

2) Recitation of Surah Sajda and Surah Dahr/Insan in the obligatory Fajr prayer.

3) Dress well

4) Using perfume

5) Go to mosque early

6) Reciting Surah Kahf. (Anytime from Thursday sunset to Friday sunset)

7) Entering the mosque and offering at least two rakats of Dukhul al-Masjid (but this is not specific to Friday only).

8) Sit near the imam

9) Listening to Khutba with attention and not speaking during Khutba

10) Pray more between two sermons

11) To pray at other times (because prayers are accepted on this day)

12) Praying on Rasulullah (S) as much as possible throughout the day

> Virtue

On the authority of Aws Ibn Aws As-Saqfi (RA), he said, I heard Rasulullah (SAW) saying—

He who performs ablution on Jumu'ah and performs ablution (also for his wife), wakes up and wakes up in the morning, prepares (to go to the mosque) early, goes to the mosque not in a carriage but on foot, and listens to the sermon sitting near the imam without uttering any idle talk. , his every step (going to the Masjid) is regarded as SunnahAnd for each step he will receive the (equal) reward of fasting for one year and offering prayers throughout the night. (Abu Dawud: 345, Saheeh) according to the mentioned hadith, if the distance from one's house to the mosque is 100 steps, then by doing these five things, that person will get the reward of 100 years of Nafal fasting and 100 years of Nafal prayers. Subhanallah!

If you recite Surah Kahf on Friday, it will give light on the Day of Resurrection and all sins between two Fridays will be forgiven. On the authority of Ibn Umar (R.A.), Rasulullah (S.A.W.) said—

"Whoever recites Surah Kahf on Friday, there will be noor (light) from his feet to the height of the sky, which will illuminate the Day of Resurrection, and all his sins from the previous Friday to this Friday will be forgiven." (At Targheeb wa Tarheeb: 1/ 298)
Another hadith states, "Whoever recites Surah Kahaf on Friday, for him there will be light from one Friday to the next" (Mustadarek Hakeem: 2/399, Bayhaqi: 3/249, Faizul Qadir: 6/198). On the authority of Abu Darda (R.A.), Rasulullah (S.A.W.) said—

"Whoever memorizes the first ten verses of Surah Kahf, he will be saved from Dajjal (fitnah)" (Sahih Muslim). However, according to the scholars, it is applicable for any period. Not just for Friday.

In the narration of another hadith – “One who performs a good ablution on the day of Jumu’ah, achieves good purity, wears the best clothes and applies the perfume that Allah has provided for his family, then comes to the Jumu’ah prayer and does not behave in vain and proceeds with a gap between the two. No, its one next to JumaThe sins of the intervening period of Jumu'ah are forgiven.(Ibn Majah: 1097)

The Prophet (pbuh) also said, on Friday, angels stand at the door of the mosque and write down the names of those who arrive first in order. The one who comes first is like the person who sacrifices a fat camel. Whoever comes next is like a person who sacrifices a cow. The person who comes next is like the chicken donor. The next arrival is like an egg donor. Then when the imam came out, the angels closed their books and listened attentively to the sermon. (Bukhari: 929)

> Special time of prayer acceptance

There is a special moment on Friday, when Allah fulfills all the desires of the people. Scholars differ on the timing. According to some scholars, the time is the time between two sermons. Another scholar said, from Asr until Maghrib. We should pray at these two times. At the same time, whenever the opportunity is available during the day, pray.

Narrated by Hazrat Abu Huraira (R.A.), Rasulullah (S.A.W.) referring to the day of Friday said—

There is a moment on this day, if a Muslim asks Allah for something while standing and praying, then He will certainly grant it to him. And he indicated with his hand that the moment was very short.'' (Bukhari: 935, Muslim: 852)
In the hadith narrated by Jaber (R.A.), Rasulullah (SAW) said, 'If a Muslim prays to Allah for something good on Friday, Allah will give it to him. Search for the time after Asr.' (Abu Dawud: 1048)

> The vain deeds that bless the reward of Jumu'ah

All kinds of work during Khutba are included in unnecessary work. And unnecessary or futile actions destroy the reward of Jumu'ah. Below are some examples of unnecessary work.

* Speaking during the sermon
* Forbid someone to talk if someone nearby is talking
* Doing any work on mobile phone
* Operation of the donation box of the mosque
* Raising donations for the mosque
Passing the worshipers present or moving forward with a gap between two people
Touching a later stone is futile
Narrated by Hazrat Abu Hurairah (R.A.), Rasulullah (S.A.) Said, "Whoever (during the sermon) touches a pebble (i.e. carelessly touches a standing stone), has done a useless deed."

Asking the neighbor to shut up is a futile act. On the authority of Hazrat Abu Huraira (RA), the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said—

On Jumu'ah when you tell the Muslim next to you to be quiet, while the imam is delivering the sermon, you have said a useless thing. (Bukhari: 934)
It is a futile task to ignore the present worshippers. Narrated by Jabir bin Abdullah (RA):

A person entered the Masjid during the sermon of Rasulullah (s.a.w.) on Friday. He was moving forward, holding the man's neck. Rasulullah (s.a.w.s.) said — You sit down, you have caused trouble (to others) and have done useless work. (Ibn Majah: 1115)
Acts of women on Friday

The acts related to going to the mosque are mainly for men. The rest of the actions (such as reciting Surah Kahf, reciting Darood, praying etc.) can be done by both men and women. In this case, many women regret not getting the reward of the deeds related to going to the mosque. For them, the scholars say that you can help the mahram men of the house regarding the said acts. You can encourage them about the actions. In this case, you will also get the reward of that period, Inshallah. Because if someone calls others to a good deed, the caller also gets the reward of that good deed. In the same way, if someone incites someone to do an evil deed, he must also be a partaker of the sin of that evil deed. In this way, women can also get the full reward of the above actions, inshallah.
Finally, may Allah Ta'ala grant us Tawfik to perform our Friday deeds in the right way and after today's Friday prayers, I will pray to the great Rabbul Alameen for all the oppressed Muslims of the world. In this way, may Allah accept the prayer on the 4th Friday of the month of Rabius Sani and may we all go to the house of Allah and pray with a healthy body and mind. amen
