Staff Correspondent

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sazzatd Ali today visited the National Orthopaedic Hospital and Rehabilitation Institute (NITOR) to see those injured in the anti-discrimination student movement.

During the visit, the DMP Commissioner personally spoke to each of the injured in the student-people's uprising and inquired about their health and treatment.

Many of the injured, who have been undergoing treatment at the NITOR expressed their feelings to the DMP Commissioner, and requested the police to work as true friends of the people.

Sazzad listened to each of them attentively and said that the police are not enemies of the students and the public.

In the past, he said vested quarters and some ambitious police officers had brought the police, the students and the public face-to-face through their activities.

The DMP Commissioner said that the police are now working to fulfill the expectations of the students and the public with the commitment to be the people's police.

DMP Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) Md. Israel Hawlader, Additional Police Commissioner (Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime) Md. Masud Karim, Director of the NITOR Professor Dr. Md. Abul Kenan, along with hospital doctors and DMP officials of various ranks were present.
