DMP's Wari Division to keep fire extinguisher in police vans
Staff Correspondent
Cops under the Wari Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) will keep fire extinguishers in patrol vans to respond quickly to arson attacks in vehicles.
Deputy Commissioner of Wari Division of DMP Iqbal Hossain came up with this information at a programme at his office on Saturday.
Iqbal said, "Police will keep fire extinguishers in vans so that fire can be doused quickly to reduce casualties and damages."
There is a clear instruction from the law enforcers to the transport owners to keep water, sand, and fire extinguishers reserved inside vehicles.
A non-government organisation Varied Builders Limited handed over 50 fire extinguishers to the division of DMP for use in the vans of the Demra, Kadamtali, Shyampur, Jatrabari, Wari, and Gendaria police stations.
Attending the programme DSCC 47 no ward councilor Shahana Akthar said, "When vehicles are torched by arsonists, police have no means to douse the fire and wait for fire service. That's why my company handed over fire extinguishers to Wari Division police."
